Portal Branding

Brand your CollabPortals portal: upload a logo, set theme colors, and add a custom favicon so end users see your brand instead of ours.

Overview

Every portal carries your name in the header and its own URL slug. You can take the branding further so end users see your brand on every page instead of ours:

  • A logo in the portal header
  • Theme colors for the portal's primary and background colors
  • A favicon for the browser tab

All of it is included on every plan at no extra cost, and it all lives in the Design tab of a portal's settings.

  1. 1

    Open the Design tab

From your admin dashboard, open the portal you want to brand and switch to the Design tab of its settings.

  2. 2

    Upload your file

In the "Portal Logo" section, click "Upload logo" and choose a PNG, JPG, or WebP image under 2MB. The file is uploaded directly to secure storage and attached to the portal.

  3. 3

    Save the portal

Save the form. The new logo appears in your portal's header the next time an end user loads the page.

Use a transparent PNG or WebP for the cleanest look. The logo is rendered in a fixed-height container, so tall or square logos both work, but very wide logos may crowd the header.

Supported logo formats

FormatSupportedNotes
PNGYesRecommended for logos with transparency
JPGYesBest for photographic logos
WebPYesSmallest file size at comparable quality
SVGNoNot supported. Export as PNG or WebP
GIFNoNot supported

Logo files must be under 2MB. Upload fails for anything larger, so compress or resize before uploading.

Theme Colors

A portal has two configurable theme colors, both in the Design tab:

  • Primary is the brand color. It is used for buttons, links, focus highlights, and the active item in the portal sidebar.
  • Background is the color behind the portal's content and sidebar. It defaults to white.

Each color is a swatch you click to open a picker. The picker offers preset swatches, a full spectrum picker for any color, and a hex input if you already know the value. The background color has a "Default / Custom" switch: leave it on Default for the standard white background, or switch to Custom to choose your own.

Text colors adjust automatically. Whatever primary or background color you pick, CollabPortals chooses a readable text color to sit on it, so the portal stays legible.

Keep the background light. The portal renders content on white cards, so a white or lightly tinted background reads best. A very dark background is not recommended.

Favicon

The favicon is the small icon shown in the browser tab. By default a portal uses the CollabPortals icon. Upload your own so the tab carries your brand.

  1. 1

    Open the Design tab

In the portal's settings, go to the Design tab and find the "Portal Favicon" section, next to the logo uploader.

  2. 2

    Upload your icon

Click "Upload favicon" and choose a PNG or ICO file. A square image, 32x32 pixels or larger, works best. The file must be under 1MB.

  3. 3

    Save the portal

Save the form. Browser tabs show your favicon the next time an end user opens the portal.

Changing or Removing Branding

Once a logo or favicon is set, its slot shows a preview with "Change" and "Remove" buttons. "Change" opens the file picker to replace the file; "Remove" clears it and falls back to the CollabPortals default. For colors, reopen the picker to choose a new value, or switch the background back to Default. All changes take effect once you save the portal.

Where Branding Appears

  • The logo sits in the top-left of the portal header on every page end users visit: login, table lists, record detail, and the profile page.
  • The theme colors apply across the whole portal end users see.
  • The favicon shows in the browser tab.

The portal name and URL slug are unchanged by any of this. Branding does not change the URL or the way users log in.

What Is Not Customizable

CollabPortals keeps branding focused. There is no custom-font option and no custom CSS, which keeps setup fast and the portal UI consistent for your end users. If you need branding beyond the logo, theme colors, and favicon, raise it on the public roadmap.
