Billing and Subscription
How billing works in CollabPortals, including the free trial, upgrading to a paid plan, and managing your subscription.
Overview
CollabPortals offers a free trial so you can set up and test your portals before committing to a paid plan. Billing is handled through Stripe for secure payment processing.
Free Trial
When you sign up for CollabPortals, you get a free trial with full access to all features:
- Create portals
- Configure permissions
- Share with end users
- All field types and features included
No credit card is required to start your free trial. You only need to enter payment details when you're ready to upgrade.
Upgrading to a Paid Plan
When your trial ends or you're ready to upgrade:

Go to your account settings
Navigate to the billing section of your account from the dashboard.

Choose a plan
Review the available plans and select the one that fits your needs.

Enter payment details
You'll be redirected to a secure Stripe checkout page to enter your payment information.

Start your subscription
Once payment is confirmed, your subscription is active and your portals continue working without interruption.
Managing Your Subscription
CollabPortals uses the Stripe Customer Portal for subscription management. From there you can:
- View invoices - See past payments and download invoices
- Update payment method - Change your credit card or payment details
- Change plan - Upgrade or downgrade your subscription
- Cancel subscription - End your subscription at the end of the billing period
To access the Stripe Customer Portal, go to your account settings and click "Manage Subscription."
What Happens When Your Trial Expires
If your free trial ends and you haven't upgraded:
- Your portals stop working, and end users will not be able to log in or access data
- Your portal configuration is preserved, nothing is deleted
- You can upgrade at any time to restore access
Upgrade before your trial ends to avoid any interruption for your portal users. You'll receive email reminders as your trial approaches its end date.
What Happens When You Cancel
If you cancel your subscription:
- Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period
- After the billing period ends, your portals stop working
- Your account and portal configurations are preserved
- You can resubscribe at any time to restore access
Payment Security
All payment processing is handled by Stripe. CollabPortals never stores your credit card information. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified, the highest level of payment security certification.
