Your Logo, Your Colors, Your Favicon
Brand the portal so end users see your company, not ours: a logo in the header, primary and background colors, and a custom favicon on the browser tab.
A portal you send to clients is a thing they judge you by. If it carries someone else's logo, you are introducing a vendor into a relationship that was between you and them.
Branding is included on every plan, because a portal with our name on it is not much use to you.
What it does
- Logo: PNG, JPG or WebP under 2MB, shown at the top of the portal sidebar on every page, and on the login screen
- Primary color: buttons, links, focus highlights and the active sidebar item
- Background color: behind the content and sidebar, white by default
- Favicon: PNG or ICO under 1MB, used for the browser tab and as the home screen icon when someone saves the portal to their phone
Each color is a swatch with presets, a full-spectrum picker and a hex input, so matching a brand guideline is a paste rather than a hunt. Text color adjusts automatically to stay legible against what you pick.
Why it matters
Two things follow from a branded portal, and they are worth separating.
The first is credibility. Clients, members and contractors are being asked to log in and often to submit information. Seeing your brand on the page is the difference between a system you run and a link someone sent them.
The second is that it makes the portal part of your service rather than a tool you happen to use. Agencies in particular price on that difference.
What it does not do
There is no custom CSS and no custom fonts. Branding is deliberately kept to a logo, two colors and a favicon so setup stays fast and every portal stays consistent. Custom fonts are on the roadmap as an idea; custom CSS is not, so say so if you want it. One mark stays whatever you set: a small "Powered by CollabPortals" line sits in the sidebar footer, on the login screen and on the sign-up page.
For the favicon, 180x180 or larger and a PNG rather than an ICO is the right choice, because iOS will not use an ICO for a home screen icon and falls back to ours.
Keep backgrounds light. Content renders on white cards, so a dark background fights the interface rather than theming it.
How it works
Everything is in the portal's Design tab. Upload the logo, set the two colors, upload the favicon, and the portal updates. Pair it with a custom domain and the portal reads as yours from the URL bar in.
The branding guide has the specifics, including the formats that are not supported and what happens when you remove an image.
