Google Ads and Google Analytics Tracking for Your Airtable Portal
Add your Google Ads or Google Analytics ID to a CollabPortals portal and see page views, sign-ups, logins and new records in your own Google account. No code to paste.
If you pay for ads that send people to your portal, you need to know which clicks turn into sign-ups. Without tracking, the ad account sees a click and nothing after it.
The Tracking tab adds your own Google tag to the portal, so sign-ups, logins and new records show up in your Google Ads or Google Analytics account.
What it does
Give the portal a Google Ads ID, a Google Analytics ID, or both. We build Google's tag from it, so there is no code to paste. The portal then sends four events:
page_viewwhen someone opens a pagesign_upwhen someone registers through your sign-up formloginwhen someone signs inrecord_createdwhen someone creates a record, with the table's name
Paste a Google Ads conversion label next to sign-ups, logins or new records and they count as conversions too. New records take one label per table, so a new listing can be a conversion while a new message is not.
Why it matters
A portal is often the end of a funnel: someone sees an ad, lands on a public portal, signs up, and submits an application. Until now that last step happened somewhere Google could not see, so you could not tell a campaign that filled your base from one that only spent money.
Privacy built in
The contents of a record are never sent, and your users' searches and filter choices are stripped from the addresses before Google sees them. A cookie prompt, on by default, asks visitors before Google's cookies are used, which Google requires for visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. You can reword or translate it on the Labels tab.
Your own preview of the portal is never counted, so you can test without creating conversions. Tag Manager containers and pasted scripts are not supported: on a shared address the only code that runs is ours and Google's own tag.
How it works
Open the portal's settings, go to Tracking, switch it on and add your IDs. The tracking guide covers each event, where to find a conversion label in Google Ads, the cookie prompt, and two settings worth checking in your Google account.
Who it is for
Anyone who advertises a portal or wants to measure it: application portals counting applications, membership portals counting new members, and service businesses counting bookings.
