Your own team's Airtable seats appear in every row because you pay for them either way. A portal sits on top of Airtable, it does not replace it. Every priced row prices your team on the Team plan you selected above, so if moving people to a portal would let you drop to a cheaper plan, that saving is not counted here.
What this means
- Business works out cheaper than Team here, by $900 a year. Team bills everyone from Commenter up, Business bills only Editor and above, so your 20 commenters are free on Business and cost a full seat each on Team.
- Your 50 read-only people cost nothing. Read-only collaborators are free and unlimited on every Airtable plan, including Free, and so are form submissions and shared view links. If everyone you are sharing with only needs to look, you do not need to pay anything at all.
- On these numbers the Business plan is your cheapest seat bill at $7,020 a year.
- Portals guests must be outside your organisation, and a guest who reaches a second app or the underlying base is reclassified as a full collaborator at the normal seat rate. That reclassification is the most expensive surprise in the add-on.
- Airtable sells Portals in packs of 15, 25, 50, 100, 200 guest seats and discounts the larger packs without publishing the rates. The Portals figure here is the entry rate applied to your pack size, so treat it as a ceiling rather than a quote.
- On annual billing, a seat added part way through the term is charged for the whole of the remaining contract, and removing a seat never refunds. Seats are easiest to get wrong in the expensive direction.
